Cloud Keep | 云庇
This modern concrete incense holder (or incense burner) is part of a series where we try to imagine the essential elements of architecture buried in our collective unconsciousness, comprised of stairs, platforms and towers that recall a place familiar but distant at the same time. This is an architectural folly in miniature, a monument to some forgotten event.
The Cloud Keep is the second in the Cloud series. Ensconced within a golden house, the backflow incense is placed on top of the stairs and its plume flows gently down along the steps and walkways of the burner. Cloud Keep is larger than the Cloud Stairs, and has two striking plume waterfalls, drawing the fog flow in different directions. One waterfall connects to a center platform, which pools the plume, allowing it to overflow in a dreamlike fashion to the stairs below. Also available with a Wutong wood tray.
Only a very small part of architecture belongs to art: the tomb and the monument.
