Suanni Lion Grand (Cast Iron) | 铸铁狻猊
This cast iron rendering of the Chinese mythical lion Suanni (Suan Ni, 狻猊 or 狻麑) is larger than its liuli counterpart and has a rather grand presence, making it a striking center piece. Suanni is known as the 5th son of the Dragon, and as such has half-lion, half-dragon features. He has a contemplative temperament, and is often quietly in a state of reflection. He enjoys fire and smoke, and therefore often depicted on incense ware.
Fun fact: as lions were not native to China, many historians believe that suanni is what Chinese artists imagined a lion to be like, before a real lion was brought to China and its true looks revealed.
This incense holder can be used for both burning incense powder and incense sticks. Comes with a bronze incense powder mold and a bronze stand for incense sticks.
