Suanni Lion (Liuli) | 琉璃狻猊
Suanni (Suan Ni, 狻猊 or 狻麑) is the name for the mythical Chinese lion, a divine beast which resembles both lion and dragon, and believed to be the 5th born son of the heavenly Dragon. The earliest references to Suanni date from the 3rd century BCE. Suanni has a contemplative temperament, often sitting in a state of reflection. He also enjoys fire and smoke, and therefore often depicted on incense ware.
The petite size of this liuli Suanni makes it striking yet not overbearing. It is made from the pate de verre technique using a combination of amber and frosted white glass crystal. Can be used for both burning incense powder and incense sticks. Comes with a bronze incense powder mold and a bronze stand for incense sticks.
