Peng Lai | 蓬莱
Peng Lai, known in Japanese as Horai, is a mountainous island that has existed in Chinese myths for thousands of years. A utopian land inhabited by immortals, it was believed to be a land where only abundance, youth and joy existed. Portrayed by ancient painters as an island of mountains rising into the clouds, sometimes visible, sometimes not, always elusive to the human search.
This incense burner showcases a single stick backflow incense, its smoke descending down into the peaks below, the glass cylinder enclosing a miniature mythical landscape reminiscent of Peng Lai.
